On Friday, George and Lilly went along to UEA’s FLY (Festival of Literature for Young people) poetry Slam event, where poet Adisa hosted groups from four local schools, who battled it out via the medium of spoken word to become 2016’s FLY Slam champion. Four leading professional Slam poets sat on the judging panel, after they had coached the students in the lead up to the event.
The poems covered a huge range of subjects from snowmen, to the Titanic, to attention seekers, to the emotive and relevant matter of politics, and all were performed with great enthusiasm.
