In 2015, we worked with Circle Housing Group on the design and build of a website for Trime, a project that helps residents in social housing save money on their energy bills. The initial objective was to create a simple and dynamic brand and platform for connecting partners that could serve as a professional portal for members of the initiative across Europe.
Stage two of the project was about engaging directly with residents, providing tools to help them think more about how they consume energy around the home and inviting action to demonstrate tangible behaviour change (the key measure of the project).
‘Save Energy, Save Money’ was devised as an interactive challenge to encourage social housing residents to see how much they could save. Residents signing up are encouraged to identify 3-5 simple ‘eco-gestures’ – such as ‘defrost the freezer’ – that they will commit to doing. An online calculator will then track how much they save across the duration of the challenge from doing it.
The design for the challenge needed to feel different to the rest of the corporate site, so a bright and friendly, illustrative look and feel was created. Simple animation was integrated across the pages to bring the challenge to life and highlight key registration areas.
As the challenge enters its halfway point, a total 59,598kWh and 38,600 CO2 has been saved by participating residents!
